I’ve been a Chiropractor for twenty years, but my experience of it began as a patient.
Aged 17 I hit a parked car on my push bike and went through the back windscreen. A bit of a stiff neck became a serious problem several years later, severely affecting my shoulder and sleep.
At the age of 19, I was being advised that I would need to take painkillers for the rest of my life. My mum suggested a Chiropractor. Within the first couple of weeks of care I experienced a significant improvement. To date, it still hasn’t returned. Of course there have been a few injuries since then but Chiropractic is always my first choice for treatment and is the key to a speedy recovery. Ongoing wellness chiropractic care has been a continual part of my healthy living lifestyle.
I graduated with B.Sc Hons degree in Applied Biology from Bath University in 1992. After a few years working in a hard science environment as a microbiologist, I chose to train as a Chiropractor. After 4 years of training I graduated and began my career in May 2000.
Whilst holding true to the principals of McTimoney Chiropractic, I mostly use Activator Chiropractic methods these days. I am one of the few Advanced Proficiency rated Activator practitioners in the UK and, to date, the only one in Devon. I also integrate Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) as well as Dry Needling. I am proud to say that the bulk of my referrals come from personal recommendation.
Simply put, once the patient’s problem is diagnosed, I use a variety of skills to create a bespoke treatment which will fit their individual healthcare needs.
My wife Claire and I and have two terrific grown-up daughters. I’m a keen surfer (mostly on my longboard at Saunton Sands) gardener anllaura cd guitarist.
I qualified in Sports Massage in 2012 while completing my B.Sc Hons Degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Straight away I loved combining these skills to treat injuries and help people improve and maintain their movement. Since then I have been fortunate to work with people from all walks of life, in some amazing places. I am really excited to have joined South Street Chiropractic as a Spinal Therapist and helping our clients achieve their health aims.
In my time away from the clinic I love to get outdoors and explore. Whether that is on a mountain bike, hiking, skiing or camping it doesn’t make too much difference. Having an adventure and a touch of adrenaline is what keeps me happy!
Hello, I’m the Practice Manager here at SSC and I had the pleasure of joining this team in June 2020. I have a background in dental nursing and dental practice management, I love to help people and see how their lives can be changed for the better. I have been unbelievably fortunate to find Chiropractic and I couldn’t have imagined the transformations we see in our clients after their treatment. I love meeting people, so be sure to say hello!
Hi, my name is Lisa. I have been a member of the friendly and caring SSC team since 2016. It is lovely to meet so many nice people here and watch them go through their journey’s of chiropractic care.
I joined the practice in September 2017. It has been an amazing privilege to see our clients go through their journeys of recovery and to witness the positive changes in their lives. Working at SSC is a continuous learning experience of the wonders of chiropractic and also, the healing properties of K Laser. I have grown to realise that we all need routine chiropractic adjustments in order to maintain our best health potential.
